What a day!

After weeks of unbroken sunshine we woke up to grey skies, high winds and rain – it was forecast but we were hoping against hope they’d got it wrong. We had 260 booked but understandably quite a few must have taken a look at the forecast and stayed in bed.

For those who did come along however the Rumble will surely remain long in the memory.

Battling against the elements, up hills and and along windswept moorland roads, those hardy souls can feel so proud of their achievement.

There were lots of damp – well soaking wet – riders at the end but all had huge smiles and were delighted they had taken part. The weeks of preparation meant everything ran smoothly and all the riders returned safe and sound and full of praise for the support they were given.

Our film maker Polly has quickly put together a short report of the day:

We’ve received some lovely messages:

Thank you so much to all the riders, our volunteers, sponsors and supporters. Next year here’s hoping the weather may be a little kinder!

  1. I did the 100km route.. only 2 big climbs! Thank you for your great organisation… the signage was good the food stops superb. The weather and countryside memorable.

The climbs and the weather broke me. and I do remember offering to sell my bike at one of the feed stops…. but I am coming back if not in 2019 (holiday clash)certainly in 2020. I have unfinished business with the moors!
