We’re delighted to announce that Harry Whittaker, drivetime DJ at MinsterFM, will begin training shortly to prepare himself for the 170KM Extreme route of the Ryedale Rumble.
Harry is used to taking on sporting challenges as part of his job but he admits this is going to be tough:
Luckily for Harry he has a superb bike to train on. York’s leading cycle shop Cycle Heaven have not only provided Harry with a brand new Canondale but, as Harry mentions in the video, they are going to help with training advice too.
Piers Moffatt of Cycle Heaven, who presented Harry with his bike, has no doubt he will succeed:
“After meeting Harry and seeing his enthusiasm for the Ryedale Rumble we know he’ll make a success of it. The bike we have provided is perfect for him. If he follows the training schedule he may even conquer Chimney Bank which comes towards the end of the route!”
Throughout June and July our intrepid DJ will be reporting on his training during his afternoon show on MinsterFM and encouraging his listeners to have a go too. He’ll also be highlighting what an amazing location the North York Moors National Park is for cycling. Don’t forget we have two shorter routes – the Inspire Route at 80KM and the Challenge Route at 120KM for those who feel the 170KM route is just a bit too arduous.
He’ll also be posting regular videos like the one above on the MinsterFM facebook page.
We’ll also be letting everyone know how he’s doing on our social media pages too:
Huge thank you to Piers and his team at Cycle Heaven for all the amazing support they are giving us with the Ryedale Rumble and also to a new sponsor the Robin Hood Caravan Park in Slingsby who have bought Harry’s bespoke pedals!
We’d love you to join Harry on the 29th July – go on, give it a go!!
